I’ve talked before about how this year has been a bit of a struggle creatively, and how comics have been a bit of a life raft through it all.
Keeping a comic diary has been a great source of fun, and it feels natural and easy to draw bits of my day. I wanted to see if I could take the simple pencil drawings a bit further, adding colour digitally.
It's been a lot of fun looking back through the last year or two and picking my favourite little sketches to work on. I’ve really enjoyed building palettes and playing with opacity, and I love the scruffy pencil lines and marks left over from my planning.
I added a paper texture to this last one, which also affected the colours a little bit. I’m not sure whether I prefer the added texture or not yet.
I’m excited to keep going and see what else I can do with this new-to-me technique. Happy to hear any tips!
I love to see the pencil lines and marks from the traditional work on the digital 😍 not very fan of textured paper, but maybe that's because I don't know how to use it the best way 🤣 or because I like very smooth paper on sketchbooks!
So good- I’m looking forward to seeing a little sequence! Yes absolutely cherish all the little pencil marks, they are the magic ✨
